Delano Holland
was born near Washington, D.C. in 1948. As a child, he moved with
his family to California in 1953, where he remained until adulthood
and developed his artistic talent. He attended the California
College of Arts and Crafts.
Holland’s
artistic endeavors have been heavily influenced by his worldly
travels. He lived in Amsterdam for a while to study Van Gogh and
also in Paris to study Degas. Holland has also traveled throughout
most of Europe and South America in pursuit of artistic inspiration.
Since Delano is a dead ringer for Elvis, he not doubt has accounted
for many of the Elvis sightings in other countries.
His
recent work in the filed of ballet reflects influences from the
Classical and Impressionist periods and from works of other old
masters that he studied intently in Europe. “The masters’
technical brilliance and the emotional impact of their work has,
and will continue to have a profound influence in my art.”
Delano’s
work ranges widely from his preferred small images produced on
board, to sculpture, to murals that stretch for a whole wall.
He has had his work exhibited in the New York Art Expo every year
since 1996. His paintings have also been exhibited in international
expose during this time period, specifically those held in Japan
and at Art Asia in Hong Kong.
He
has been commissioned to do work by some major foundations involved
in the art of the dance. Holland’s work sells out at every
exhibition and he is widely sought after by collectors.
