ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY

Nancy Beck received her B.F.A. from the University of Utah with a concentration in painting. Upon graduating, she moved to Rhode Island and became the art director for WJAR-TV, the NBC affiliate of Southern New England, where she was responsible for all on-air graphics, print material and promotional graphics. She and her husband and children moved from Rhode Island to the Philadelphia area in 1990. She began showing her work at The Carol Schwartz Gallery, located in Chestnut Hill, PA, in 1998. She has exhibited at juried shows at the Philadelphia Sketch Club, Women in Art show, Woodmere Art Museum and the Hilton Head Art League. She was the recipient of the Alfred G.B. Steel prize in 2002.

Nancy works with oil paints on canvas or wood panels. While the subject matter varies, her style and approach to each painting remains consistent.

“Whether I am painting a still life, a portrait or a seascape
my intent is to create a piece that has an interesting composition,
bold color and textural combinations and one that evokes a feeling
of familiarity and perhaps humor within the viewer. A moment in time
that people can relate to.”
