Born
in America, Arona Reiner was raised in Israel
on the Galilean Kibbutz Ramat Yochanan. Her talent was recognized
at an early age, but because kibbutz policy precluded members
from receiving special instruction in anything that would not
be directly useful to the settlement, she was largely self-taught.
Later she studied at the Art Students League and Parsons School
of Design in New York, attended the Institute of Plastic Arts
in Bat Yam, Israel, and learned etching at Bezalel Academy. A
member of Israel's Artist Union since 1972, she has taught at
the Israel Museum Jerusalem and the Jerusalem Workshop for the
Arts.
Included
in several group shows, Reiner's work also has been exhibited
in 10 one-woman shows and is part of several private and corporate
collections. Her most recent project, following completiion of
the Men of Israel, is a collaborative effort with Israeli artist
Uri Lifshitz for the Tel Aviv Museum.
